About Samantha
I have experience tutoring all age ranges and genuinely all subjects from math, to science, to english and history. I have experience tutoring young kids at the Boys and Girls club in my hometown, as well as tutoring peers in high school, and finally mentoring and editing essors for seniors applying to college. For more about me, I am 19 and I love art a lot more than science. Although I was accepted into MIT for aerospace engineering, I am a slam/spoken word poet, paid creative director, and illustrator. I am studying abroad this summer to work with non profits in Budapest, and then volunteering with GIVE in Tanzania! I am the founder and president of a Social Justice org at GT and in three ambassador groups on campus. I also play basketball in my free time. I would love to help get other students into their dream schools and be able to pursue whatever field you want!

For STEM subjects, I tutor with a bottom-up approach - we look at the current class lesson together and start with some practice problems. As we work through the problems given by the book or by the teacher, I will address any questions or confusion as we work through it. This is where I feel that being a student sets me apart as a tutor- no one understand how to explain material like someone who had the same questions recently. For SAT/ACT prep, I start by explain what mindset and methods make me a good test taker. SAT/ACT are less about studying certain material, and more about how to read questions and time management. For English, History, or Essay help, I have a more top-down approach. As a writer, poet, and editor, I have found that starting with the big picture is best - what is the goal? What do you want to have written by the end? Where do you start to get there? Once again, my lessons can be for any age range, and the lesson plan will be mostly based on finishing a certain amount of practice problems or getting a certain amount of an essay written, but completely based on the needs and capacity of the student.
