I like to learn a little about prospective students before assessing their learning needs which I carry out using standardised tests. No one is too young or too old and I welcome enquiries from everyone who needs help.
I am a teacher of Specific Learning Difficulties at a secondary school and offer tuition in both literacy and numeracy at both primary and secondary level having nearly 25 years experience. I graduated in 1987 with a BA (Hons) 2:1 in Humanities and Social Studies and went on to gain a post graduate certificate in education during 1993. Through my work as a specialist teacher, I regularly assess and teach students with dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia and moderate learning difficulties. I carry out assessment using recognised achievement tests (Wide Range Achievement Tests, and Mathematics assessment for learning) in order to produce an appropriate teaching programme tailored to individual needs. My approach to teaching is through multi-sensory learning, following the recognised phonics teaching course 'Alpha to Omega' with literacy. If you need help developing your reading accuracy (phonics), reading comprehension, spelling and written work, or help with basic number skills, then I can assist.
