About Evans
I was a Master’s student at East Tennessee State University and graduated in May 2018. My major in mathematics with a concentration in statistics has helped me appreciate the positive effects of science and mathematics education on both young and matured minds.
Whiles, I was a student, I was working at the Centre for Academic Achievement at the East Tennessee State University where I tutor statistics, calculus and algebra. I was also assisting professors with classroom work including teaching, grading and proctoring of student quizzes and examination.

In teaching, I like to have an interaction between me and the student(s). I believe that teaching should not be a one-way communication system.
Always, I like to give the student(s) the background of what I am about to teach and see if they can come up with the right ideas to tackle the problem on their own. If they come up with the right ideas, great! However, if they come up with the wrong idea, I explore their ideas to see what is quite right and build on them. In teaching the student(s), I make sure the student(s) understand the current step before I move to the next step.
After introducing the topic to the student(s), I solve examples with the student(s) for the student(s) to learn how to solve an actual problem concerning the topic we are treating.
I like to give exercises and assignments to see if the student can solve questions on their own. If they solve it correctly, good! If they solve it wrong, I look at where they made an error and try to explain the right way of solving the question, maybe in a different way, to the student.
