About Jacob
Hello Students!
I'm an educator with 5 years of experience teaching Statistics and U.S. History courses to both 6-12 students and undergraduates. I have taught in Boston and Fall River Public Schools, and have served as a debate coach for several schools on the South Coast. I'm excited to learn about you as well as work with you to build your confidence in statistics!

My approach to teaching is inspired from my time learning statistics in high school. Math was simply not my subject. It wasn't until college I discovered a number of ways to teach and learn math, so let’s find the approach that works with you!
My approach to tutoring emphasizes student and family agency, creating a secure learning environment where students are comfortable asking questions, and being responsive to your needs and goals as a learner. Your success in the learning environment is my primary goal. By connecting our content to student interests and applied concepts in math, let's work together to find a system that works with your style of learning!
Teaching Techniques:
1. Differentiated Instruction - I adapt techniques to match the needs and goals of individual students and provide them with instruction that matches the level of rigor students are both comfortable grow with
2. Multiple Modalities - I expose students to a range of learning styles and strategies (routinization, timed-testing, environment manipulation, paired work) accompanied with a mix of visual and audio items to fully understand your style(s) of learning
3. Agentic Learning - I give opportunities for the student to be in the driver's seat to explain mathematical concepts and receive real-time feedback on content explanations
4. Reflection - I support the building of your confidence by focusing on your strengths and starting from where we can provide the most growth in your learning
Teaching Highlights:
• Students achieved 96% mastery in subject tests compared to previous year test average 72% and district average of 69%
• Instructed over 150+ students on IEPs, 504s, and additional educational supports, achieving a cumulative mastery of 86%
• Advised Debate Team for 20+ students (English & Spanish), Class Council for 15+, Gender Sexuality Alliance (GSA) for 15+
