About Jessie
Hello! My name is Jessie. I’ll be studying biology next year at university (so excited!) and would love to share my knowledge. I’ve just completed the IB diploma (HL Bio, Chem, Psych), and, so in addition to being prepared to help you understand biological concepts and content, I have tips and resources for success in the IB. I’ve been a camp counsellor for the past 3 summers, which helped me build effective communication skills and I’ve learnt how to make learning engaging and to replace “lecture learning” with individualised guidance and explanations.

I’ve found that concepts are most remembered when they are fully understood, as opposed to memorised from an explanation in a textbook. I want students always to feel encouraged to ask “why?” because that’s how learning becomes individual. So, in a lesson, I’d begin with big picture, then I’d want to know what my student(s) already know, and build up knowledge on the foundation of what the student understands so the concept always has context. Before a lesson, I will have the key points from the syllabus that I will tick off as we go.
