About Jenna-Beth
My name is JB (they/them) and I have been working as a Learning Support Assistant for 5 years. I love helping and supporting students with their work. One of the reasons for this was that it wasn't until I was studying my PGCE that I was diagnosed with Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, and ADHD. Having gone through the school system with no support I understand the struggle that students can face and that the 'stereotypical' ways of revising don't always work. Giving students the support I didn't receive is very important to me. Over the years I have researched, tried, failed, so many different organisation plans and revision guides that I am well versed in the subject. Being a student with study support myself has given me a unique perspective as the person giving and also receiving support. This has helped improve as a tutor as I understand the feelings that students are feeling and also the way I want people to respond to me. I use this to improve my own practice and support students.

My Methodology: I work at a college as a Learning Support Assistant. I support students to organise their work, revising for exams, and creating systems that they can use consistently. I specialise in working with students with additional learning needs such as ADHD, ASD, Dyslexia etc. as well as behavioural support needs that can impact access to support in schools. I work with students to create plans and revision guides that work with the way their brain works. Supporting students to work with their brains rather than against them. What will happen in the first session? The first sessions are always nerve-wracking. To start with we go over what you are looking for in these sessions, anything you need me to know about you. This can be anything you think that is important to your learning support. We will go over what you need support in and start creating a plan that we can work off. What we do in other sessions? It can be whatever you need! This can include looking over work, testing different revision strategies, working on the best times to work and how to fit this around your own life. Which subject(s) do you teach? I have a degree in Film and Video and trained as a media teacher. I am currently working through my Masters in Education. As I am London based, but have previously lived in Wales. However, while I don't have specific subject knowledge in other subjects, I do have a broad understanding in most. I can help students by reading over work, helping understand the tasks that have been set, and going through the mark schemes. Which ages and levels do you teach? I've had experience working with ALN students from Year 7 - Year 13/Upper 6th. I have supported students for their GCSEs, A Levels, BTEC, general homework and organisation. Qualifications: BA Hons Film & Video Newport University PGCE/PCET Cardiff University Masters Education - Equality and Diversity (ongoing) Open University When are you available? Term Time: After School, Evenings, Weekends. Holidays: Flexible - any time. I am available online.

Perfect! Jenna has a very clear vision of what needs to be done after some investigation and understanding of
the needs specific of the learner. I am very reassured by the insights gained already and feel much more confident going forward from here. I am feeling lucky to have found someone so well prepared and congenialView more reviews
