About Lopez
I’m an Industrial and Systems Engineer with nearly 20 years of experience across engineering, technology, finance, and education. I currently work as an English Language Learner instructional assistant, where I help students build confidence, master academic content, and reach measurable learning goals through structured, personalized support.
Working with me is collaborative, patient, and goal-focused. I meet students where they are, break down complex ideas into clear, manageable steps, and adapt my teaching style to how each student learns best. Whether we’re working on English language development, math and science concepts, or computer science and engineering fundamentals, I focus on building both understanding and confidence.
I use data and progress tracking to guide instruction, adjust strategies, and ensure steady improvement. This approach has helped my students achieve strong outcomes, including high rates of language reclassification and improved academic performance. I’m especially effective with students who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of their abilities—I help them see that learning is a skill they can develop.

My math lessons are structured, supportive, and focused on real understanding—not memorization. I help students break down problems step by step, understand the “why” behind each concept, and apply strategies with confidence. Whether a student is catching up, keeping up, or getting ahead, I adapt lessons to their level and learning style.
I begin by identifying where the student feels stuck and what concepts need reinforcement. I also do initial assessments if needed. From there, I create a clear plan that builds strong foundations, connects new ideas to what they already know, and steadily increases difficulty. I use visual explanations, guided practice, and real examples to make abstract concepts easier to grasp.
With an engineering and analytical background, I emphasize logical thinking, problem-solving strategies, and pattern recognition. Students learn how to approach math calmly and systematically, which reduces anxiety and builds independence over time. I also track progress and adjust lessons based on results, so students can see their improvement and stay motivated.
My goal is for students to leave each lesson feeling more confident, capable, and prepared—not just for the next assignment, but for future challenges in math.
