About Hazel
I’m Hazel – a multi-instrumentalist and classical saxophonist currently studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Alongside my training in classical performance, I play traditional Scottish whistle and flute, and hold a Distinction in ARSM piano. My musical life spans genres, but always returns to a love of connection—through sound, collaboration, and shared experience. I perform as a soloist and chamber musician, with a particular interest in unusual ensemble combinations and reimagining music for unique instrumental voices. I’m drawn to musical spaces that are fluid, inclusive and imaginative. My work is equally shaped by a deep commitment to well-being in music. I’m currently studying the Alexander Technique, which has fuelled my passion for helping musicians play in ways that are physically sustainable and expressive. This ties closely to how I teach: with care, curiosity, and a focus on helping each student find ease and joy in their playing. Beyond performing and teaching, I’m actively involved in music outreach and artistic governance, and have held youth advisory roles with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and ABRSM UK. At heart, I believe music should feel good—emotionally, physically, and creatively—and I’m passionate about helping others discover that for themselves.

I love making music feel human, joyful and accessible! With 10+ years of background in classical, traditional and genre-fluid music-making, I bring a rich and varied approach to teaching piano, saxophone, and music theory. My lessons are student-led, compassion-driven, and rooted in the belief that music should work for you—not the other way around. I’m a trauma-informed educator who values connection, creativity and curiosity. Whether you’re building your foundations or rediscovering your relationship with music, I’ll meet you where you are—with warmth, skill, and a deep belief in your potential. Whether your goal is to soar your way through ABRSM exams, or find your way of self-expression, I want to help!
