About Megan
Hello! My name is Megan, and I am an English Language Arts tutor for middle and high school students. I am currently finishing up my Bachelor of Arts in English for Secondary Education and have experience supporting students with reading comprehension, writing, grammar, and literary analysis. I enjoy helping students feel more confident in their abilities and capable of handling the expectations of English class.
I take a patient, organized, and supportive approach to tutoring. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, so I strive to create a positive and encouraging learning environment. I focus on breaking down complex texts and assignments into manageable steps, helping students build strong skills and confidence over time.

My approach as a tutor is supportive, structured, and student-centered. I am currently pursuing my Bachelor of Arts in English for Secondary Education, and I tutor English Language Arts to middle and high school students (grades 6-12). I focus on reading comprehension, writing, grammar, and literary analysis, and I have experience working with students who have ADHD and dyslexia, as well as reluctant readers. Each session is adapted to meet the student's individual needs and learning style.
A typical lesson begins with a brief check-in to identify what the student is working on or struggling with. I model strategies such as breaking down texts, identifying main ideas, or organizing written responses, then guide students as they practice before working independently. I use clear examples, sentence frames, and step-by-step instructions to support understanding.
What sets me apart is my ability to make complex material feel manageable. I focus on helping students truly understand reading and writing tasks in a supportive, low-pressure environment that builds confidence and academic skills.
My lessons are ideal for middle and high school students (grades 6-12) who need homework support, help with novels or essays, test preparation, or extra practice with core ELA skills.
