About John
I am a trained Art teacher with over 10 years of experience teaching Art and more than 20 years of professional experience as an illustrator, cartoonist and caricature artist with Nation Media Group, one of the leading media organisations in East and Central Africa.
Over the years, I have worked on a wide range of creative projects, developing strong skills in drawing, illustration, cartooning, caricature, visual storytelling and creative communication. My professional experience has taught me that good art is not just about talent—it is about observation, understanding, practice and developing the confidence to express your ideas.
As a teacher, I am patient, encouraging and practical. I enjoy breaking down seemingly difficult techniques into simple steps and demonstrating them clearly so that students can understand and practise them for themselves.
I believe that everyone can learn to draw and become more creative with the right guidance and consistent practice. Whether you are starting from scratch or already have some experience, I will help you develop your skills at a pace that works for you.

Want to improve your drawing and illustration skills, but don't know where to start? Or perhaps you already draw and want to take your skills to the next level?
I am a trained Art teacher with over 10 years of teaching experience and a professional illustrator, cartoonist and caricature artist with more than 20 years of experience at Nation Media Group. This gives you the opportunity to learn not only the fundamentals of art, but also techniques and insights gained from years of working as a professional artist in a highly demanding environment.
My lessons are practical, personalised and designed around your level, your goals and your interests. I teach through clear, step-by-step demonstrations, followed by guided practice, so you can immediately apply what you learn.
Depending on your interests, we can explore:

Caricature and cartooning

Beginners are especially welcome. You don't need to be naturally talented to learn art. With the right guidance, practice and encouragement, you can develop your skills and confidence.
I teach children, teenagers and adults, from beginners to advanced learners, and I adapt each lesson to suit the student's pace and objectives.
My goal is simple: to help you become a more confident, creative and capable artist while enjoying the process of learning.
