I have specific qualifications to MA level and a postgraduate teaching certificate in adult/higher education, as well as over 30 years experience of working as a tutor for private clients, schools, Children's Services and tuition agencies. This experience includes working with students with special educational needs.

I can help with GCSE study as well as basic numeracy and literacy at either primary and secondary level, or with basic skills for adults returning to study. My approach to teaching is a responsive one. I am very patient, calm and friendly and have experience of working flexibly with students with obstacles to learning. I am able to develop strategies and draw on materials that I have developed over time to engage and motivate my students. Throughout my teaching and support work I have always worked to adapt to individual needs and learning styles, and to create a learning environment that is relaxed and informal, but that is focussed on understanding of concepts and making progress towards goals.
