I have been teaching science to secondary school pupils as I am a STEM ambassador, however I find teaching students one to one much more effective. I am currently in my 3rd year (placement year) of studying for my Bachelor's genetics degree, which I am spending working as a full time researcher and lab assistant in Cardiff University's Cancer and Genetics lab. As I am working in the field of STEM, anyone who is looking to do the same would get valuable insight and advice. My course has equipped me with a much deeper understanding of GCSE and A-level biology and chemistry content as well as much more. Off syllabus learning, especially at A-level means getting a higher grade. I can teach this extra material. Since I did my secondary school exams just a few years ago, I remember tips and how for each unit answers should be structured. Visual and auditary learning is far more effective than just reading, in light of this I often prepare power points and diagrams to explain scientific contents which then can be kept for revision purposes. In addition I am more than happy to answer questions that may seem silly, in science there is rarely ever a silly question.
I also have paid teaching experience as an English trainer for international students.
In addition, I have an up to date enhanced DBS check.
I have had tutoring experience for teaching GCSE biology and am fully aware of the syllabus and grading criteria. I also have experience in teaching and mentoring as my on going time as a STEM ambassador, teaching secondary school pupils concepts in science to enthuse them towards STEM. I have always been proficient at improving the grades of those who sought my help, both in university, at school and now in my lessons. I do this by passing on the study techniques which my private schooling taught me as well as find a variety of ways to memorise and understand a topic based on each person's learning style.
I am happy to travel to your home, but would need to charge extra for the travel expenses. If teaching GCSE biology close to 1 month before one's GCSE exam (provided proof of exam date), my rate per hour lowers to £15 by webcam and £18 in person.
**Cancellations may be made at any time. However, lessons cancelled within 48 hours will still need to be paid for unless it is an emergency.**
