About Emily
Hello! I am originally from North Carolina and attended college at UNC Wilmington where I received my Bachelor of Arts in History. After completing my undergraduate degree, I decided to continue my academic career as a Seahawk earning a Master of Arts in history. During the program I taught and administered grades for college classes, took graduate courses on an array of history topics, and spent countless hours in the archives writing my thesis.
My love for learning history and deep immersion in academia ultimately led to my passion for teaching. This cemented my decision to enroll in the MAT program at the Watson College of Education. I received a second Masters in teaching with a social studies concentration, including an internship in New Hanover County Schools. Over the past several years I have had the pleasure to teach different areas of social studies at the high school level and online at Cape Fear Community college as an adjunct professor. I look forward to continuing my academic journey helping tutor students who need help with history, test prep, reading and writing, etc.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy reading, seeing my friends and family, listening to music, traveling, and spending time in nature.

I've taught for almost 10 years in both the high school and college classroom setting! I've helped hundreds of students become more informed about history, current events and politics, and improve reading comprehension along with writing skills. I can teach middle school, high school, and college students! We will break down the material in a way you can understand it and ensure there's a lot of reflection and feedback from me as your tutor. I will take time to assess each student's learning style and appropriate accommodations.
