I have twenty years of experience as a middle and high school English teacher in Arizona, Colorado, and Mexico. I love teaching English, as well as reading and writing, and also have an MFA in Nonfiction writing from The University of Arizona.

With 20 years of experience teaching high school English, I believe effective tutoring begins with understanding each student as an individual. I adapt my teaching approach to the student’s learning style, academic goals, strengths, and areas for growth.
My approach combines clear instruction with guided practice and meaningful feedback. I help students strengthen reading comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary, literary analysis, and critical-thinking skills. Rather than simply providing answers, I encourage students to understand the process behind the answer so they can become more confident and independent learners.
I use discussion, modeling, examples, questioning, writing exercises, and targeted feedback to keep lessons engaging and productive.
