About Melody
Hello! I'm Melody, a Communications student at UCLA with a strong passion for writing and helping students achieve their academic goals. In high school I graduated as valedictorian with a 4.54 GPA and completed over 20 AP and honors classes including AP Literature, AP Language, AP Statistics, AP U.S. History, AP Government, AP Biology, AP Environmental Science, and AP Calculus. I earned high scores of 4 and 5 in many of these classes. These courses and experiences have thoroughly prepared and helped me develop effective study habits, time management skills, and test-taking strategies that I am eager to share with other students. Continuing into college I continued to strengthen these skills through my coursework at UCLA and through my experience writing professionally for HerCampus which has further developed my abilities in writing, reading, and editing on a higher level.
In addition to academic experience, I have many years of working with students of all ages through both tutoring and mentorship. As a member of National Honor Society, I volunteered as a tutor throughout high school to help fellow students with course materials and exam preparation. In college, I continued offering my tutoring services through helping friends and peers with essay editing and proofreading. I also worked as a camp counselor and babysitter for three years, giving me ample experience when it comes to mentoring and supervising children of all ages. Together these experiences have taught me how to communicate effectively, adapt to different learning styles, and come up with individualized plans of action to help students succeed.
