About Joyce
I am a 1st year university student studying psychology at the University of Ottawa, who graduated high school with honors due to my excellent grades. In my first semester at university, I was able to secure a spot on the Dean's Honor List, thanks to my outstanding performance in all my classes. I tutored many middle school and high school students in my high school, establishing meaningful, judgment-free connections where students felt comfortable to ask questions and take as much time as they needed. The students I tutored moved on to achieve better grades in their classes and felt more empowered and confident in their abilities to succeed.

As a tutor, I will create a positive and judgment-free environment, where I would like to form strong professional connections with students. A typical lesson would be going through lessons from school and assigned homework, and working together to get to the end goal. I would also come prepared with extra work to accomplish, since practice is key to achieve full comprehension. What sets me apart from the rest is that I am someone who is very patient and empathetic, I understand what it's like to struggle with certain concepts, and I want to create a space and relationship where students feel supported and free to ask as many questions as they want. As I have a lot of experience in science and math, my lessons would be better for middle school and high school students who need support in functions, calculus, chemistry and biology.
