About Emiry

Teaching and co-operative problem solving are core features of a doctor-patient relationship. As such, I hope to take on additional roles as a teacher when I qualify as a doctor.

Education as been an integral part of my life growing up with close family members being secondary-school teachers who encouraged a love of learning.

About the lesson

I am a fourth year medical student at the University of Oxford with extensive experience in tutoring. Indeed, I look forward to incorporating teaching into my future career as a doctor. I prefer a student-centred approach to tutoring. As such, I avoid exclusively didactic methods and instead encourage participation that fosters a deeper understanding of material.

There is a lot to learn at A-level/GCSE and I find an organised teaching plan that is responsive to a student`s changing needs is optimum. I will encourage a student to be honest about what they struggle with so that we can develop specific and measurable goals that will shape the tutorials. I aim to focus on the core information that ensures the syllabus is covered in addition to practicing exam technique so that students feel fully prepared for exam day.

Typical lesson length: 1 - 1.5 hrs
Teaching style: Student-focused, collaborative, and interactive.
