About Jad
As an IB graduate and University of Toronto Political Science & Sociology graduate (with additional studies in Semiotics and Communication), I specialize in helping people make sense of complex political and social ideas.
I’ve spent years studying Canadian and international politics, following elections, and explaining the news to friends, classmates and students in clear, simple language. My goal isn’t to tell you what to think, but to give you the tools to understand politics confidently and form your own opinions.

Political theory and science should not revolve around imposing political views, partisan ideas or ideological views. Political science students are renowned for their critical thinking abilities, problem solving and ability to understand complicated ideas and issues. A good political theory class is revolved around the process of theory building and case study, not the answer or judgements that arise.
My lessons are for anyone who has ever thought: “I wish someone would just explain politics to me without jargon or judgment.”
We can cover topics like:
• How Canadian government actually works (Parliament, Prime Minister, provinces, courts)
• Elections, parties, left vs right, and what those labels really mean
• How to read the news and polls critically (what’s spin and what’s fact?)
• Big global issues – war, climate, globalization, human rights, international organizations
• How to build your own informed opinion on controversial topics
Lessons are conversation-based and tailored to your interests: we can use real news articles, election results, speeches or policies that you’re curious about. You can ask “basic” questions without feeling judged, and we keep things non-partisan – the focus is on understanding, not convincing you to support any party or ideology.

Politics has always been a problem for me. But its obvious Jad has a real passion for this subject. He is able to clearly explain complicated concepts through simplified examples. His teaching method makes it feel more like a conversation rather than a lesson.
I find politics to be a difficult subject for me, but with Jad’s help I’ve grown more confident during my studies. He’s really patient, clear and makes the content really interesting and at times funny, he understands what each individual student needs and plans his lessons accordingly, overall a superb teacher!
