About Peter
I am a user-friendly 'tutor', specialising in GCSE and 'A' level physics and GCSE maths. You can ask me lots of questions. By you asking questions I can guide you through to understanding.
I am not so much able to teach a syllabus but am more able to help students who may want some extra help with, and want to ask questions around, various parts of the subject curriculum. My emphasis would be on keeping it informal and being approachable.
I believe that understanding a subject is key, hence my approach, rather than training to pass exams. Getting good grades in exams should then follow from confidence, and understanding of the subject, and should be a natural outcome.
About me;
I didn't really like school! I went to a Comprehensive in Brixton, London, in the 1970s and physics was my principal subject and the only subject, along with applied maths, that interested me. Luckily I had a very good and very highly qualified physics teacher and I finished up getting very good grades.
Worked in a South London teaching hospital as a medical physicist for many years and also as a software developer there. Have also worked in industry as a software engineer. As a person, I am kind, trustworthy, patient and reliable.
Now retired. Qualifications include PhD, MSc and BSc Hons (2(1)) in physics. Attained Chartered Engineer (CEng) and Chartered IT Professional (CITP) status via the British Computer Society. Have been registered with the Health Care Professions Council as a Clinical Scientist.
I passed an Enhanced CRB Check in 2009 for TfL.
