About Josh

I am a 20-year-old Music Technology student at Portsmouth University, and I have been playing guitar since I was 10. I have experience playing lead guitar, rhythm guitar, acoustic and electric, playing live, and reading music notation. I have been teaching a few of my friends at uni and college for the past two years, teaching them the basics of the guitar, to the point where they can comfortably play and write songs using the skills I helped them to develop.

About the lesson

Having had a handful of different guitar teachers as I progressed through different skill levels, I have experienced a number of different teaching techniques, and I have filtered them through into what I believe to be the most effective and successful teaching techniques that worked for me.
I would begin with the basics of the guitar, steering the students away from any bad habits that they may tend to pick up and ensuring they have a strong technique that would allow them to progress further as efficiently as possible.
Then with every exercise I run through, I would make sure that the student understands what I am doing and why, so they could take the principles of the exercise and implement them into other scenarios.
Along the way, I would ensure that the student is in a comfortable learning environment, and I would do my best to keep them happy with their progress.
