About Alexander

Hi, I'm Alex, a PhD student at the University of Waterloo with a master's degree and several years of experience in chemistry and materials science research. I've also worked as a teacher, so I know how to break difficult topics into clear, manageable steps. I remember how overwhelming chemistry can feel when you're learning many new topics at once, so my lessons focus on understanding why things work, not just memorizing answers. I'm patient, well prepared, and happy to go at your pace. My goal is to help you build the confidence to solve problems on your own.

Chemistry is hard because you're asked to learn a lot of new topics at once, like bonding, equilibrium, acids and bases, and thermodynamics, without knowing what any of them are for. When you can't see the application, it all feels like random rules to memorize, and that's why it doesn't stick. In my lessons, I connect each topic to things you already know, like batteries, medications, food, and cleaning products, so the concepts make sense instead of piling up. Once you see why a topic matters, it gets much easier to learn and remember.
