About Sandra
The power and joy of storytelling fuel my passion for teaching. Over my 25 years as a high school English Language Arts teacher, some of my most rewarding moments have come from guiding students to the wisdom found in great works of literature. One of my favorite authors, Leslie Marmon Silko, expressed it beautifully: “I will tell you something about stories . . . They aren’t just entertainment. Don’t be fooled. They are all we have, you see, all we have to fight off illness and death.” Stories are far more than words on a page—they reveal who we are, help us embrace our unique essence, and deepen our understanding of others. Across generations, storytelling has shaped cultures and given us the resilience to endure hardship. When you study literature with me, you will not only enrich your life but also gain a deeper perspective on the human condition—insight that fuels growth and inspires you to pursue your dreams.
