About Derek
Derek planned on building a world-class entertainment studio since he was 5 years old, and his 20+ year career in gaming is a testament to this. From roots in the gaming community with LANFest, to shipping multi-billion-dollar AAA experiences at Xbox, he was driven by his unending passion and perseverance.
His day job is managing a top performing team of diverse skill sets at Seattle game studio CHRONICLER.
Teaching the next generation of game developers is Derek’s privilege and favorite personal project.

Learn how to build your own game from scratch from an experienced game director. Create the world you imagine and bring it to life on your PC.
- Step-by-step into game engines like Unreal, Unity, and Godot.
- Master visual coding and writing your own functions for AI, interactions, and story.
- Learn advanced 3D techniques, from modeling and animating to shaders and level design.
Any skill range is accepted, as long as you're determined and excited to try new things.
