About Kathleen
I am a career choral and vocal professional with over 20 years of experience in music education. I have taught students of every age, from PreK general music and piano to undergraduate-level music theory and aural skills courses.
I hold a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and Music Education from Ithaca College, and a Master of Arts in Gregorian Chant.
I am a published composer, author choral clinician, and adjudicator.

I believe that good learning requires both daily practice, and a willingness to "get messy" through exploring learning styles, methodology, and structures. Ultimately, my goal is to enable and empower music students to become experts on their own process.
Like most skills, music-making is both product and process. While product is important, I find that a focus on process generally instills the self-discipline needed to become life-long music makers.
For students considering applying to colleges as a music major, I can offer particular insight into preparation for undergraduate-level ear training and music theory.

Cancellation requires a minimum of 24 hours notice for retained rescheduling. I reserve the right to refuse refunds or rescheduling for cancellation if less than 24 hours notice are given. Students arriving more than 10 minutes late to a lesson are subject to cancellation without rescheduling.
