About Elham

Lab demonstrator and student supervision Imperial College London • Teaching assistant in Optics and Waves, University of Montreal • Teaching fellow and lab demonstrator of Electricity and Electromagnetism, Concordia University • Faculty Member, University of Hamedan, – Taught the entire range of physics courses to students in their 1st, to final years – Reviewed the courses and assisted in curriculum development – Designed new experiments and implemented the laboratory for undergraduate students – Supervised undergraduate projects • Teaching assistant in Quantum Mechanics, and Mathematical Methods for Physics, Isfahan University Teaching has been a long-standing interest of mine. Due to my strong background in physics and mathematics I began to teach when I graduated from high school. During these years, I was exposed to teaching in a variety of environments. I had the opportunity to tutor individual students who had reached me through positive word-of-mouth, as well as to teach large groups of up to 40-50 students in both lab and classroom-based environments. I gave lectures reinforced by practical exercises and tutorials with active involvement of students in the teaching-learning process. I believe that one of the most efficient approach of teaching is explaining the concept, using animated analogies if needed, writing equations on the board/ online blackboard and solving the problems step-by-step while describing them to students. This not only grounds the concepts but guides the students through all the details, training them how to use physical concepts, then encourage them to apply their knowledge and solve problems independently. To effectively interact with students, I encourage questions or interactive quizzes to receive immediate feedback on what is easy or hard to absorb in the lecture content.
