About Nikola
I mostly use open source technologies like Python, R, Hadoop, SQL, and I have decades of experience in flat text data and data lakes. When needed, I use other tools like SAS, Stata, Matlab, etc., and I have decades of experience in programming languages including Perl, Java, PHP, .NET, C and GNU/Linux system administration. I published in the Journal of Comparative Economics, Eastern European Economics, Industry, etc. I am a member of The Econometric Society, The Free Software Foundation, and The Association for the Study of Eastern European Economies and Cultures.

I hold MA and PhD in economics from Georgia State University and BS in economics from San José State University. Asides from teaching, I am an applied econometrician and data scientist and I have a diverse experience across various industries. With strong academic foundation in data and statistics, I worked as a senior data scientist, CTO of financial companies, and as the researcher at private and central banks and public policy institutes.
As a university professor, I was happy to teach quantitative courses and share my knowledge. I also taught other courses, mostly in monetary economics and public finance. I love playing with data and I enjoy forecasting the most. I enjoy the most teaching econometrics and statistical inference as well as theoretical quantitative courses.
