I am an expressive and passionate performer and an enthusiastic and invested teacher. I aim to teach in an adaptable and accessible way, inspiring students to love learning in the way that is right for them!
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
Flute (all levels), Classical Piano (beginners), Music Aural (all levels) and Music Theory (up to Grade 5).
Music KS3, GCSE and A-Level.
Music at undergraduate university level.
Maths GCSE, (all exam boards, including iGCSE), Maths from KS1-KS3, and offer proof-reading services.
In addition to my 1:1 private tuition experience, I have extensive experience working 1:1 with students with visual impairment and various learning difficulties, and have worked in school classroom environments.
The most important thing for me as a teacher is that my students are enjoying themselves whilst learning and working hard to overcome challenges they may face!
- Tell me about your qualifications.
A graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with a PGDip (Flute Performance), I am now furthering my studies for a MMus Perf at Goldsmiths University London. At the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland I studyied with Katherine Bryan (principal flute, RSNO), Ruth Morley (Red Note Ensemble) and Janet Richardson (principal piccolo, RSNO).Â I completed my undergraduate degree in Music at City University London (BMus Hons, 1st Class), and studied with Wissam Boustany for 5 years.
Prior to this, I completed my A-Levels in Music, Maths and Modern Hebrew.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £35 per hour up to GCSE level or Grade 6 flute. I charge £40 per hour up for A-Level or University level or Grade 8/Diploma flute.
I may charge up an additional £5 for travel costs if travelling far.
- Where do you teach?
I teach either in my home in Edgware, or at students' homes - happy to travel, but travel cost may be added to lesson fee if this is significant distance.
- When are you available?
I am available weekday mornings, weekday afternoons (after school times) and weekends.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages and all levels!
For flute, I recommend ages 5/6 and up.
For piano, I recommend age 4 and up.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
Maths: Edexcel GCSE or iGCSE (foundation or higher), AQA GCSE (foundation or higher)
Flute/Piano: ABRSM syllabus or Trinity syllabus
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching for the past 7 years, and have worked with students of all ages and abilities. Specifically with flute and piano, I have taught students who want to play 'just for fun', and with students following the ABRSM exams syllabus, with many students completing their examinations with merits and distinctions, including Grade 8 distinction. No matter what the student's goals are, the most important aspect of teaching for me is that the student is enjoying playing, whilst developing a passion for, and learning to engage with the music.Â
