About Kyle
Kyle Brooks is a saxophonist, woodwind doubler, composer, and educator based in the greater Chicagoland area. Offering lessons in saxophone, clarinet, flute, piano, music theory, and improvisation, Brooks holds degrees in both music education and performance, while currently finishing his doctoral degree in jazz performance from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. A musician of many styles, Brooks offers a comprehensive pedagogical approach that is steeped in a plethora of professional musical experience within the domains of jazz, classical, rock, soul, funk, East Asian, and folk traditions.

Kyle Brooks offers lessons in saxophone, clarinet, flute, piano, music theory, and improvisation. These lessons are custom-tailored to the needs of the pupil, having taught a wide range of students, from small children to adult learners. We will identify your musical aspirations, as well as the areas to focus on, so that each lesson serves a specific purpose in realizing your truest potential. Topics may include instrument-specific practices, as well as musicianship (ear) training, music theory, improvisation, music business, and pedagogy.

Kyle chose some great jazz pieces for us to play that he knew were going to be hard for us. However, he pushed us to strive and become better musicians and people. I personally think he has been the best jazz teacher I've ever had. Everything mattered and that is true of jazz and he always helped us improve.
