About Sowmyanarayanan
I am an actor, filmmaker, and educator based in Toronto. I have been working in performance for over a decade — acting, directing, producing, and editing across stage and screen. Alongside that, I have spent seven years teaching and designing curriculum at the post-secondary level, so I understand how to structure learning and give feedback that actually moves people forward.
I also run a self-tape studio where I help actors prepare and shoot auditions, which means I bring a director's eye to the work — not just a performer's instinct. I know what reads on camera, what casting directors are looking for, and how to help you get there.
I am trained in Meisner technique and approach acting as a craft built through honest, specific work. I work with adults at any level, from complete beginners to working actors looking to go deeper.

I am a Toronto-based actor and filmmaker with over a decade of experience in performance, directing, and producing. I offer one-on-one acting lessons for adults online, tailored entirely to where you are and what you are working toward.
If you have a specific script, character, or audition to prepare for, we build the session around that. If you are developing your craft more broadly, I work with you from the ground up — starting with Meisner repetition exercises, moving into sense memory, thought replacement, and scene study as you progress.
No two sessions look the same. The work is shaped by what you actually need, not a fixed syllabus.
I also bring seven years of teaching and curriculum experience alongside my performance background, so I know how to give feedback that lands and pace the work in a way that builds real skill over time.
Whether you are new to acting or returning to it after time away, I would love to work with you.
