About Laura
I have an undergraduate degree in Media and Philosophy which I obtained in 2012. I completed my Secondary English teaching degree in 2017 and worked at a prestigious high school teaching year 7 to year 12 students in English and biology. I am currently studying a Master of Writing with Swinburne University. In my spare time, I am a playwright, poet and journalist and I have performed and written at Fringe Festivals across Australia and the UK over the last two years.

I am a strong believer in using an English classroom to understand society. My units blend fictional texts and films with real-life events and journalism to highlight the important links between literature and ever changing societies. I am well versed in scaffolding tasks so students from a range of backgrounds can succeed and tell their stories. I also believe that every student experiences a text differently, and there is a great beauty in discussing those differences.
