About Nitya
I'm Nitya, a final-year applied mathematics student at McGill University. Learning to love math and preparing for math exams are two separate and exact endeavors, and my hope is to unite the two in my teaching. During my time at McGill, I have worked as a peer tutor and mentor for fellow undergraduate students, helping them tackle homework problems and structure their study plans for final exams for calculus, algebra, and statistics courses. I also have thorough knowledge of the IB curriculum for math, having studied Math AA HL and achieved a cumulative 44/45. Besides this, I am well-equipped to cover concepts from elementary-, CEGEP-, and middle school-level mathematics courses, owing to their similarities with some of the content I have already taught.
My teaching plan is tailored to produce high scorers who will perform well in their tests and exams. Besides this, my goal is also to make my students love math, as I had to teach myself to do the same in my time as a student.

The teaching sessions are tailored to the student's particular program, whether it is middle school, CÉGEP, IB, or first-year maths courses.
- Instilling an intuition for mathematical problems by building from first principles rather than rote memorization
- Drilling exam-style problems through past papers
- Empowering students to take ownership of their revision through self-made summary sheets, active recall, and targeted exercises
A typical lesson plan would build on one particular topic (e.g. for a high-school calculus course, this could be integration by parts), with some practice exercises at the end where the student is encouraged to boldly and creatively answer some questions to build their intuition. Then, they will be prescribed homework problems that we will discuss and correct at the start of the next lesson.
As exams approach, sessions shift toward comprehensive exam preparation, ensuring each question type is covered with the appropriate breadth and depth.
