About Gabriel
I am a third-year student at UC Berkeley studying Applied Mathematics, and have been tutoring regularly for over 4 years. In high school, I competed with a national championship-winning Academic Decathlon team where I ranked 4th in the country for my division, and excelled in the mathematics event. In college, I have continued to pursue mathematics and am taking upper-division courses with the intent to pursue a PhD in the future. I am extremely passionate about math and hope to help you become more confident in your own math abilities, no matter where you are starting from!

My goal as a tutor is not just to teach you how to solve a problem, but to also help you understand the underlying mathematical concepts behind the problem. I also work with students to improve problem-solving skills in approaching unfamiliar concepts on homework and exams. To do so, we start with building the intuitions behind a mathematical concept and build from there. For example, with integrals, it is important to develop an understanding of geometry that is represented by the integral, instead of memorizing how to solve certain integrals. I can tutor in person if in the Berkeley area, and can teach students of all ages, whether you’re a middle school student learning algebra for the first time, a high schooler struggling with trigonometry, precalculus, or calculus, or an older learner seeking to improve their mathematical skills.

It’s because of him that I could pass an exam to get credit for Calculus 1 after only a month. Amazing at explaining theory in a way that makes it ready to grasp.
