About Ashley
I have proven success as a Structured Learning Assistant (SLA), specifically trained by the University of Louisville to increase success rates in business calculus. Utilizing the most effective engagement tools to ensure students were attaining and retaining information.
I worked with class groups of 30 students during their lectures and in smaller, individual sessions in the University's Math Resource Center.
In the classroom or in the tutoring center, student engagement was the focus. This ensured that when students needed information for exams, they could think through the problems instead of panicking during an intimidating, high-stress situation.

Whether virtual or in person, I adapt various engagement techniques to gauge the student's learning styles and build on their current academic level based on their individualized needs.
Based on the age and grade of the student we will align the tutoring sessions with their assigned texts.
Once a concept is explained to the student I will ask them questions that trigger analytical analysis of the concepts to answer and gauge where and how the rest of the session should go.
EVERYTHING IS ENGAGING; WE RETAIN 10% of WHAT WE WRITE, 25% OF WHAT WE HEAR, AND 90% OF WHAT WE CAN TEACH. I aim to ensure the student is able to reiterate the lessons back to me before the end of the session.
