About WESLEY
I graduated from UCLA with a 3.9 GPA with a bachelor's in Biochemistry in 2021, with Latin honors (Magna Cum Laude) and department distinctions in General Chemistry and organic chemistry. I have around 3 years of experience in teaching college-level general chemistry, organic chemistry, and high school level chemistry/AP chemistry. I also teach other sciences such as high school level environmental sciences, biology, or AP biology in general. I am currently pursuing a doctorate degree in optometry, so I am familiar with pre-health sciences such as microbiology, and anatomy and physiology in general.

In my teaching experience, I worked as a head pedagogy learning assistant for organic chemistry, so I am familiar with STEM study techniques for STEM such as spaced repetition, active recall, mind-maps, and problem-solving methods that are effective for memorization-based classes and calculation-based classes. I also have experience designing practice worksheets, leading discussion sections, and doing 1 on 1 private tutoring to help improve study skills and academic functioning in general.
A typical lesson plan is to work through problem sets and practice material actively with the student, so that I can see what part of the problem-solving process I can help with. I’m pretty experienced with pursuing and studying STEM subjects, and I like teaching science in general, so I look forward to meeting with you all.
