About Andy
Hello! My name is Andy, and I recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Throughout my academic journey, I developed a strong passion for understanding the natural world and helping others succeed in science. I have experience in both laboratory and field biology, giving me a well-rounded understanding of biological concepts and their real-world applications.
In addition to my academic background, I worked as a Science Summer Camp Instructor at Eureka!, where I designed and led engaging, hands-on activities that taught children a wide range of scientific concepts, including biology, ecology, botany, insects, physics, and environmental science. This experience strengthened my ability to explain complex ideas clearly, engagingly, and age-appropriately while fostering curiosity and confidence in learners.
I am patient, approachable, and committed to creating a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace. My teaching approach is student-centred, interactive, and tailored to each individual's learning style and goals. I believe biology is best understood through clear explanations, real-world examples, diagrams, and active problem-solving rather than memorization alone. A typical lesson begins with reviewing previous material, identifying areas of difficulty, and introducing new concepts step by step. We then work through practice questions together to reinforce understanding and build confidence. My hands-on field and laboratory experience, combined with my academic background in biology, allows me to explain complex topics practically and engagingly. I offer lessons for high school students, introductory university biology courses, and anyone looking to strengthen their understanding of subjects such as cell biology, ecology, genetics, evolution, anatomy and physiology, and environmental science.
