About Taryn
As a scientist and educator, I’m fascinated by the complexity of life — and I’m dedicated to sharing that excitement through teaching. I hold a Master’s in Biology from the University of Central Florida and a B.S. in Behavioral Neuroscience with a Psychology minor from Western Washington University. I’ve taught college biology courses, mentored undergraduates applying to grad school, and worked in research spanning evolutionary biology, neuroscience, and bioinformatics. I’m especially passionate about supporting students with diverse learning needs who haven’t been fully served by traditional education. As someone with ADHD, I understand how important it is to create individualized learning strategies that play to each student’s strengths. Outside of teaching, I’m a lifelong marine life enthusiast, an avid scuba diver, and a researcher excited about octopus intelligence. I also share my home with a pet snake, two cats, and far too many houseplants!

Hi, I’m Taryn! I’m a biologist and science educator with a Master’s in Biology and a background in behavioral neuroscience, evolutionary biology, data science, and bioinformatics. I specialize in biology, neuroscience, data science, R programming, bioinformatics, and test prep, working with high school, undergraduate, graduate, and adult learners.
My teaching approach is grounded in collaboration, curiosity, and respect for each student’s unique learning style and goals. I believe everyone deserves meaningful learning support — especially those navigating nontraditional paths or who haven’t been fully supported by the traditional education system.
