About Disha
My interest in teaching comes from my own experience as a student. During my school years, especially in Classes 11 and 12, I often felt that Biology was taught more as something to read and memorize than something to truly understand. Textbooks were frequently followed line by line, with a strong focus on what was important for the exam, but not always on the concepts and connections behind what we were learning.
Over time, I realized how much this affects a student’s foundation. The Biology we learn in our early school years forms the base for the deeper concepts we encounter later, especially in Classes 11 and 12 and while preparing for competitive examinations. When those fundamentals are not clear, students can end up memorizing information without really understanding the subject.
As a Biotechnology graduate, I have come to appreciate how interconnected and fascinating Biology actually is. That is why I want to share my knowledge—not simply to help students finish their syllabus or score marks, but to help them build a strong foundation that stays with them.
I want my students to understand why something happens, how different concepts connect, and how the Biology they learn in one class becomes useful in another. My aim is to make Biology something students can understand, question and enjoy—not just something they study because it is on the exam.

I don’t believe in teaching every student in the same way. My methodology begins with one simple question: “Where exactly did the concept stop making sense to you?” Instead of simply explaining a topic from beginning to end, I first identify the student’s gap in understanding and then build the concept from that point. I break complex Biology and Biotechnology topics into smaller connections, using diagrams, everyday examples, analogies and simple logic so that students can see how the concept works rather than memorize it.
What makes my approach different is that I teach from a student’s perspective. As a young tutor who has recently experienced the same academic challenges, I understand where students commonly lose confidence or feel hesitant to ask questions. I therefore keep my classes conversational and judgment-free, encouraging students to question, make mistakes and try explaining concepts themselves. I also connect conceptual learning with exam-style questions so students learn not only “what is the answer?”, but “how do I think my way to the answer?”
For me, a successful class is not one where I have explained the most. It is one where the student eventually says, “Oh, now I understand why!” That shift from memorizing to genuinely understanding is what I aim to create in every class.
