About Peter
I love sharing knowledge and seeing people progress. Peter, who is currently a brown belt in BJJ, began his martial arts journey with a year of Muay Thai training at Siam Camp, Greater Manchester. He then explored boxing for six months before moving to London to pursue his university education, where he became involved in Muay Thai classes run by a local MMA gym. In 2018, Peter discovered his passion for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) when he joined the beginners' course at Kingston Jiu Jitsu. He fell in love with the sport and committed himself to regular training, which he has maintained to this day (excluding the pandemic). Peter's dedication to BJJ has led to some notable achievements in competitions. Within a short time of training at KJJ, he earned a silver medal at the IBJJF British Nationals in June 2018, followed by a gold at Triccs Inter Club in March 2019. He has also received silver placements at events like the Sussex Open in April 2019 and Grappling Industries' No Gi division in December 2019. Apart from competing, Peter is known for his genuine enthusiasm for Jiu Jitsu. He enjoys studying competition matches and recently completed level 3 and level 2 of the UKBJJA referee course, gaining experience by refereeing matches at events like the English Open under the guidance of Head UKBJJA referee, Marcelo Coppa. Off the mats, Peter is deeply committed to making a difference in his community. He has been involved in local youth social projects aimed at helping young people from troubled backgrounds, demonstrating his passion for mentoring and supporting others. Additionally, Peter works as a school teacher, further exemplifying his dedication to education and youth development. Peter is also a dedicated father to two children, with his oldest child participating in two competitions at Kingston Jiu Jitsu and achieving gold in both. Peter prioritises the safety and well-being of others, having completed a First Aid course, an NSPCC child safeguarding course, and holding an enhanced DBS certificate. He is committed to fostering a secure environment within the martial arts community. In summary, Peter embodies the values of dedication, perseverance, humility, and community service, both in his martial arts journey and in his contributions to education and youth development.

In your lessons we will go at a pace that suits you. We can start from the very basics and fundamentals or we can enhance the experience and skill you may already have. Whether you want to learn the modern game of BJJ or the traditional self defence I will make sure you are progressing in a way that suits you. Each lesson will be adapted and planned from the previous to make sure you're growing in knowledge and skills without missing vital techniques and fundamentals. We can do Gi (wearing the kimono) or No Gi (wearing a rash guard/t-shirt and shorts/spats/leggings/jogging bottoms). In your first free lesson we will determine your goals and ability moving forward as well as learning some foundational movements that you can practise in between lessons.
