As a passionate tutor and a UCD student, I bring a personal and fun approach to learning English! With a background in IB English HL, where I excelled in essay writing, literary analysis, and public speaking, I know firsthand how challenging and rewarding mastering English can be. I’m not just about academics, though—I’m also a national-level rifle shooter and have been active in music, earning a Grade 7 Distinction in vocals. This balance between academics and extracurriculars has taught me how to make learning enjoyable, engaging, and well-rounded. Whether you're preparing for an exam or simply want to improve your English skills, I’m here to create lessons that fit your personal goals in a friendly, supportive environment. I believe in learning with a smile and a bit of fun, helping you feel confident and excited as you progress!

My approach to tutoring is student-centered, interactive, and tailored to each learner’s needs. I focus on creating an engaging learning experience that emphasizes real-world application of English, while ensuring a strong foundation in grammar, vocabulary, and fluency. Each lesson begins with an assessment of the student’s level, strengths, and areas for improvement, followed by a customized lesson plan. My goal is to make learning enjoyable and relevant, building confidence in speaking, writing, reading, and listening.

As a former International Baccalaureate (IB) student, I bring an in-depth understanding of academic English. Having studied English HL (Higher Level) in my Diploma Program (DP), I gained significant experience in literary analysis, essay writing, and presentations. (With a grade of 6/7). The IB program required me to complete extensive tasks such as the English HL Essay and the Individual Oral Presentation (IOP), which involved analyzing texts and presenting critical interpretations to peers. These experiences helped me hone skills in structured writing, critical analysis, and clear, compelling communication—skills I now bring into my teaching.

In my lessons, I utilize a variety of teaching techniques to cater to different learning styles:
- Conversational practice: to improve speaking fluency and build confidence in real-life interactions.
- Grammar drills and vocabulary exercises: to solidify core language skills.
- Reading and listening comprehension: tasks using authentic materials such as articles, stories, and videos.
- Writing tasks: such as essays, reports, or creative writing, with detailed feedback on structure, clarity, and style.
- Interactive methods like role-play, visual aids, and games to make learning fun and engaging.

Drawing from my experience in IB English, I help students develop academic writing skills by guiding them through structured essay writing, teaching them how to analyze literary works, and offering techniques for critical thinking and argument development. My experience with Extended Essay (EE) and Internal Assessments (IAs) in the IB program also equipped me with excellent research, writing, and time management skills. These projects demanded not only a thorough understanding of the subject matter but also the ability to organize and communicate ideas clearly and effectively—skills I impart to my students.

In addition to academic English, I help students prepare for oral presentations like the Individual Oral Presentation (IOP) I completed in IB, where I learned how to articulate ideas confidently and engage an audience. I use this experience to support students in improving their public speaking and presentation skills, helping them prepare for exams or academic presentations with ease.

A typical lesson lasts 60-90 minutes, striking a balance between theory and practical exercises. I incorporate visual aids, interactive discussions, and exercises that ensure students leave each session with clear takeaways and homework to reinforce learning.

With my UCD student experience in Computational Social Science and my background in the IB program, I bring a comprehensive approach to teaching English. My lessons are designed for learners of all levels and ages, from beginners to advanced students who are looking to refine their skills, whether for school or personal growth.

My goal is to make learning enjoyable and impactful, empowering students to improve their English fluency, writing abilities, and overall confidence. Whether students are preparing for exams, improving conversational skills, or working on academic projects, I strive to create a supportive and engaging learning environment tailored to their individual needs.
