About Lexie
Hi! I’m Lexie Malik, and I’m a biology major at Boston College, class of 2029.
I can tutor proficiently in a variety of middle- and high-school subjects, from SAT prep to AP-level English and sciences. I have scored 5/5 on 11 AP exams (including chemistry, physics C, BC calculus, both English classes, and many more) and scored a cumulative 1590/1600 on the SAT. Due to four years of competitive debate experience, during which I was ranked 54th nationally out of thousands of teams, I am also qualified to teach public speaking and argumentation skills.
My college coursework in chemistry, cell and molecular biology, and ecology, as well as my extensive inorganic and biological laboratory work, demonstrates my proficiency in the sciences. My debate experience, alongside my position as an opinion columnist for Boston College’s independent newspaper, demonstrates my writing-related qualifications.
I have several years of experience tutoring at the elementary-school level, and five years of experience coaching competitive debate at the middle- and high-school level.

My approach to teaching is very friendly, pressure-free, and judgment-free. I understand that juggling homework and studying can be stressful and overwhelming, and I will support you through it. There is no such thing as a bad mistake or question! What sets me apart as a tutor is that I not only have subject proficiency, but also compassion: I care about you as a person and want to see you succeed.
I do my best to adapt to however you learn best. I’m happy to help with homework, brainstorm or edit essays, study for tests and quizzes, make corrections on past tests, explain concepts, and anything else you find helpful. I’m happy to talk through test-taking strategies and time management as well.
In a typical lesson, we would begin by setting loose goals for our time together, then get to work on whichever activities you need. I am also always willing to coordinate outside of lessons if any questions come up.
I can offer SAT prep or science, quantitative, or English help at the college/advanced high-school level or below. If you’re looking for flexible, personalized, and approachable support, I’m the tutor for you.
