About Andre
BA Rutgers University, European, Slavic, and Art History majors MA University of Illinois at Chicago, Russian History PhD, University of Illinois at Chicago, Russian History. From one of my students: "Fun but effective Andre P. has helped me so so much. During sessions, I feel like I am studying the materials as well as practicing the test format (MCQs and FRQs), but without the individual lonely studying vibes that ultimately make studying very boring and sometimes ineffective for me. Andre P. is really good at adjusting to the students' every need, whether that be zooming in to enlarge the material or sending sample FRQ questions for me to write and grading them in his free time moments before my in-class exam to help me understand what I need to improve on. Overall, Andre P. has really helped my understanding of the course and has given me the alternate perspective that I have been missing."

I love teaching students who want to learn more about history and its relationship to current events. In particular, I enjoy teaching European History at the AP level as well as World History and Art History. I have taught AP for the last 20 years, and my students have a pass rate of 90%. Aside from content, the details of the material, I excel at helping students learn how to write DBQs and LEQs, which will help earn them the coveted 5 on the exam. Whether you are taking a class in school or self-studying, I can help you with specific topics and techniques to succeed on multiple-choice questions, short-answer questions, or writing the DBQs and LEQs. I have been a grader at the AP reading for European History, and the knowledge I have gained from these experiences has given me insight into helping my students. I have a PhD from the University of Illinois at Chicago in Russian History and a European and Art History degree from Rutgers University. I can also help with organization and study skills, creating calendars to manage your work, and helping create study guides. Every student can learn and grow - with the right organization, practice, and encouragement. Let’s plan how we can work together to reach your goals as a student.
