I tutor Maths and English to primary and secondary school pupils, tailoring my methods to the individual. Located opposite Clifton College, I work with students (and their families) to identify learning goals and then create a relaxed and productive environment to help them achieve.
I have a basic DBS certificate (but full CRB checks can only be requested by employers).
I have tutored Maths to GCSE students at various levels and have most recently helped a Year Six pupil prepare for SATS in literacy and numeracy. I've also worked with university applicants writing personal statements.
I recently graduated from the University of Bristol with high first class honours in English Literature. I now hope to develop my ideas into a PhD and am working with my tutors on a funding application.

Not being a natural academic, I needed someone to proofread my personal statement I had written as part of a job application process in a competitive field. I had little time to compose the statement and I was very anxious about it being filled with mistakes. Rachel was willing to help me and I was very grateful. She responded very promptly and gave me valuable feedback. She was very patient with all of my questions and so kind. She rephrased sentences to make the statement flow better. She also helped with basic grammar errors. Rachel used track changes on Microsoft word to make comments and this was helpful for me as I could see where I had gone wrong and how I could improve. You couldn’t pick a more kind, knowledgeable and patient tutor than Rachel. I am very grateful to Rachel for helping me get to the next stage of the job application process. I would highly recommend Rachel to anyone.
Before visiting Rachel my daughter was weak when it came to working through solving reasoning problems and understanding the questions. I'm very happy to say Rachel has enabled my daughter's confidence to grow in maths and English which my daughter lacked before going into her SATS. Furthermore, I was pleased with the SATS results: she passed with flying colours. This wouldn't have been possible without the few months of tutoring she got from Rachel.
Rachel supported me throughout my GCSEs and got me from a G grade to a C grade. I cannot thank her enough. She is very trustworthy, hard working and adaptable for your needs. I would totally recommend using her services :)
