About Louisa
Over the 5+ years I have been a tutor, I feel happiest when my students achieve an "aha" moment about a topic they have been struggling with. Through my studies, I have developed and refined many learning techniques that make those "aha" moments a lot easier to achieve!
More about me:
-In 12th grade, I competed in the University of Toronto's National Biology Competition and placed 18th in Canada through self-study alone.
-I graduated from the University of British Columbia with a BSc. with distinction in Integrated Sciences.
-I love scientific communication and writing, and I have experience publishing a paper in a high-impact scientific journal.

Many people believe that the best way to learn biology is to just memorize as much information as possible; however, I've found that's simply not the case. My lessons aim to teach biology from first principles and target specific knowledge gaps students possess in order to create a solid foundation of understanding.
I am able to teach biology from a high school level, of which includes AP and IB biology. This also includes tutoring for the University of Toronto's National Biology Competition.
In addition, I am able to teach a variety of university-level topics which include cancer biology, cell anatomy/physiology, molecular biology, genetics, MCAT biology/biochemistry, scientific writing, and more.
