About Meg
I’m a Cambridge English graduate and have been tutoring since 2006, supporting students of all abilities to find confidence, clarity, and joy in their use of language. My work ranges from helping those who find English challenging to stretching high-achieving students who want to push their skills further and explore new levels of analytical and creative thinking. I have experience working with neurodiverse learners and bring personal insight as the parent of an autistic son. I’m also experienced in supporting students for whom English is an additional language, helping them to build fluency and express complex ideas with precision and nuance. While my main focus is English, I also help students refine their essay writing in related subjects such as History and Politics. My students often tell me they value my ability to help them unlock their potential—to translate their thoughts and ideas into clear, compelling writing that not only earns top marks in examinations but also becomes a lifelong skill for effective communication in any field.

Each lesson is personalised to the student's needs, goals and learning style. We begin by agreeing on clear learning outcomes for the session so that students always know what we're working towards and why it matters. Whether the focus is reading comprehension, analysis, creative writing, exam preparation, or advanced essay skills, every activity is designed to build confidence, clarity of expression and independence. My lessons are friendly and fully adaptable - ideal for students who need extra support as well as those needing additional stretch or challenge. I use a mix of discussion, guided practice, modelling and feedback to help learners turn their ideas into precise, compelling writing. For students with additional needs, I offer a patient and structured approach informed by both professional experience and personal insight. At the end of each lesson, we review progress together, reflect on what has been achieved, and set goals for next time. If desired, I also provide tailored practice or extension tasks to support learning between sessions.
