About Izzie
After beginning my languages degree at Cambridge university three years ago, I immediately decided I wanted to become a teacher of languages and literature. Since then I have been tutoring GCSE and A Level students in English Literature, French, Spanish and Physical Education. However, with my passion for foreign languages, and after being inspired by my visit to Uganda, I decided to complete a Level 5 TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) qualification in summer 2021, which gave me the certification needed to teach English abroad. I spent winter 2022 teaching English in Peru (where I am studying as an exchange student) , and now, with my return to university, I am looking to return to teaching online. I hope to meet you soon!

I have 3 years of tutoring experience (online and in-person), including English language and literature, French, and Spanish. I believe in a highly personalised and innovative approach to teaching, beyond learning boring grammar rules! Think of how a baby learned their first language... Did they sit reading a book of verb conjugations? Of course not! A baby begins by listening, listening, and listening some more, then producing sounds, and gradually building up their vocabulary. So let's listen to some music together, watch a series, and then start to talk about what we've learnt and boost our vocabulary... Of course if you are looking for more specific tutoring tailored towards exams: GCSE, A Level, or university preparation (including Oxbridge and personal statements) I will develop a program specifically designed with these exams in mind.
For tutoring in literature, especially GCSE and A Level English Literature, I believe the best approach is to promote creativity in answers, but of course getting to grips with the texts first and the requirements of the question. If you just want to learn about literature for fun, or maybe for university, I'm also happy to give classes.
Lessons will be an hour in length, delivered online. Any age is a good age... You're never too young or too old to learn!
