I graduated with High Honors from Colgate University, a top liberal arts institution in the U.S. I am intimately familiar with the struggles of first-gen/immigrant students with academic writing & the college application process. Before starting, I conduct a quick diagnostic of your reading, writing, listening, and speaking (if needed), then build a plan around your weak spots rather than forcing a generic textbook sequence.
My lessons mix:
***Explanations of what works & what doesn't work.
***Timed practice and real-scenario questions.
***Feynman Technique (self-explanation and feedback).
***An error log that we update together, so you stop making the same mistakes.
Because I’m bilingual (Spanish–English), I can explain tricky grammar and essay structure in a way Spanish speakers actually understand, and I highlight typical “Spanglish” mistakes before they cost you points.
A typical lesson
In a 1-hour class, we usually:
***Review last lesson//warm up (5–10 min)
***Focus on one skill: reading, writing, listening, or speaking (25–30 min)
***Correct & rewrite key sentences together (15–20 min)
***Set a small homework task (5 min)
