About Mendi
Hi! I'm Mendi, and I'm passionate about helping students discover that math doesn't have to be confusing or intimidating. I know that everyone learns differently, so I take the time to explain concepts in a way that makes sense for each student, turning difficult topics into manageable, step-by-step lessons.
I'm a computer science student with over 5+ years of tutoring and mentoring experience, working with middle and high school students. My goal isn't just to help you get the right answer—it's to help you understand why it works, so you can solve problems confidently on your own.
Whether you're preparing for an exam, catching up in class, or simply want to improve your math skills, I'll create a relaxed, supportive learning environment where you can ask as many questions as you need without feeling judged. As a mathematics tutor, my approach centers on building strong foundational understanding while making lessons engaging, structured, and tailored to each student’s learning style. I believe that math is not about memorizing formulas, but about understanding patterns, logic, and problem-solving strategies.
I use a student-centered teaching approach that adapts to individual needs. I begin by assessing the student’s current level and identifying gaps in understanding. From there, I break down complex concepts into simple, digestible steps using real-life examples and visual aids when necessary.
I incorporate:
1. Guided problem-solving to build confidence
2. Step-by-step explanations to ensure clarity
3. Active recall and practice exercises to reinforce learning
4. Immediate feedback to correct mistakes and strengthen understanding
I also encourage students to explain their reasoning, which helps deepen comprehension and improve critical thinking skills.
A standard lesson is structured yet flexible:
1. Warm-up (5–10 minutes): Quick review of previous topics or a short diagnostic activity
2. Concept Introduction (15–20 minutes): Clear explanation of the new topic with examples
3. Guided Practice (20–30 minutes): Solving problems together step-by-step
4. Independent Practice (15–20 minutes): Student works on problems while I provide support
5. Review & Feedback (5–10 minutes): Summary of key points and addressing questions
Each session is adjusted based on the student’s pace and progress.
