As a teacher, I feel like there can often be an overwhelming amount of pressure placed upon students before exams and assessments. My approach is to attempt to alleviate this pressure by remaining calm and unflustered in all circumstances and trying to instil a love and appreciation for the subject within my students.
It is important for students to know what they want to get out of our time together as I focus my lessons around your needs and achieving your goals.
I am a currently working in a Secondary School in North London as an English teacher and Head of Department for Philosophy, Religion and Ethics. With over 7 years of experience working with young people from the ages of 4-18, I have developed a bank of resources that aid my students to excel in their assessments and understand the disciplines of English, Sociology, Philosophy and R.E. I have experience teaching KS3 and I have taken Year 11 classes through the GCSE specification so I am confident of meeting the needs of all my pupils.
I am particularly strong in helping students:
understanding of a set text
going over key skills and concepts
preparing for an up and coming assessment
assisting with essay writing.
As a qualified teacher working in a school I am well aware of what examiners are looking for in student responses; as well as the challenges that many students face, and I am a strong believer that preparation is the key to success. I have undertaken CPD training this year to learn what AQA are looking for in their responses in sociology, R.E. and English and I tailor my lessons to meet these expectations.
