About Tejas
Hi, my name is Tejas Ravi, and I am a freshman at UCLA studying Electrical Engineering. I am passionate about math and physics and genuinely enjoy helping others understand these subjects.
I completed Linear Algebra in high school and have studied through Differential Equations in college. I also took AP Physics C (Mechanics and Electricity & Magnetism) and continue to pursue advanced physics coursework at UCLA. Through these experiences, I’ve developed a strong foundation in problem-solving and analytical thinking, which I bring into my tutoring sessions.
Outside of academics, I enjoy playing tennis, going to the gym, and following soccer. I also like collecting LEGO cars.

As a recent high school graduate, I have a clear understanding of the challenges students face when learning difficult concepts. I use that perspective to explain material in ways that are intuitive and relatable, rather than relying on memorization or simply plugging into formulas.
My teaching method focuses on building a strong conceptual foundation first, then reinforcing it through guided problem-solving. I break down complex topics into smaller, manageable steps and adapt my explanations based on each student’s learning style. I also encourage students to actively engage with the material by asking questions and explaining their reasoning. I worked at Mathnasium for over a year, which heavily impacted my approach to tutoring.
A typical lesson begins with reviewing any questions or problem areas the student has, followed by a focused explanation of key concepts. We then work through practice/homework problems together, emphasizing intuition and understanding.
What sets me apart as a tutor is the recency of my experience with these subjects. I not only understand the material, but I also remember what it feels like to learn it for the first time. This allows me to anticipate common mistakes and explain concepts in ways that truly resonate with students.
I primarily tutor high school math (Algebra through Multivariable Calculus) and physics, but I also have extensive experience working with elementary and middle school students in math.
