I am pursuing a career in teaching English at University level, in order to do that I will first have to gain teaching experience at secondary level and I believe tutoring will be as beneficial an experience for me as it hopefully will be for the student.

My approach is to give students an understanding of how to approach essay topics and literary themes thar they will deal with in both junior and leaving cert English. My plan would be to work on the specific texts and materials that they have been assigned for their exams and help them gain a deeper understanding both in terms of analysing and discussing the material as well as how to comfortably approach exam style questions.
